First it is important to note: Organizations, clubs, or groups do not have to be a member of the Council of Tribes to use or benefit from our ongoing programming efforts. All clubs, groups or organizations regardless of membership status may utilize programs and select services created by The Council of Tribes.

The Council of Tribes is designed to be a development group comprised of leaders from across the area. Its' purpose is to communicate and work on present issues facing our clubs and communities. The goal is to contribute to the creation of cohesive, positive communities.

To accomplish this goal, the formal members of the Council of Tribes are enrolled in our Master Mind group. Master Mind groups have been used by businesses and non-profits organizations to create a support systems for people of like mind. They have been endorsed by Tony Robins, Zig Ziglar and a host of other business coaches who work across the nation. Most importantly, they are amazingly successful.

How it Works

There are many different models for running a Master Mind Group. The COT Master Mind group works like a "think tank".

1) Every two months the Council of Tribes sends a problem statement, situation or observation to its formal members. These problem statements directly relate to the issues and challenges facing the local communities. Some may apply to your local community, some may not.

2) Members are asked to carefully consider the issue set before them. To consider possible solutions and/or options that may be a solution or aid in determining a solution. Different opinions are welcome. Light debate and counter-opinions are also welcome if presented in a respectful manner. However, this is not so much a place for convincing others but to tap the problem solving skill of those who are experiencing leading.

3) To remain a formal member of the Council of Tribes, the member must respond to each of the propositions set before the membership. Members have two months to consider and respond. Members must respond before the next post.

4) All information submitted to the Master Mind group from members becomes the property of the Council of Tribes and is used to determine the direction and development projects of the organization.

Examples:

1. It was the discussion among local leaders about the need for better trained Dungeon Monitors that lead to the development of the Certified DM Training program.
2. It was local leaders' concern for better training for Dominants that lead to the development of the Mentors Project.

It is the combination of ideas (some rejected, others approved) that lead the comprehensive development of the training programs and support materials. No one person can lay claim from this collaborative work.

5) However, we can use it. These case studies form the basis for the white papers, classes, presentations, and aid local leaders in making local decisions. It is an informal way to utilize the collective wisdom of our regional community.
